"Every moment we practice yoga, it is an opportunity to turn within, and simply, just be."
For Lori, teaching comes naturally. Growing up with both parents as teachers, she enjoyed helping her mother set up her classroom and being able to connect in a special way with her father while he was her math and computer teacher in high school. She was inspired by the stories her parents would share throughout their teaching careers. Upon completing her studies in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and acquiring a Masters Degree in Community Health Education, her teaching career began. Her passion for teaching and for health, gave her the opportunities to teach children and adults of all ages. From instructing health and fitness classes, to teaching third and fourth grade, she smiles from ear to ear when asked about these experiences.
Her yoga practice began back in 2002 when she took her first Hatha yoga class at a local YMCA in San Francisco. She realized early on in her practice that yoga was more than just physical exercise or stretching of the muscles. Yoga for her was a way to simply, just Be.
It was in 2008 that she began her formal yoga training. She acquired her 200-Hour Hatha Yoga certification through the Zen Flow Yoga School in Vancouver, WA. She has taken several kids yoga trainings with YogaFit, YogaCalm, Rainbow Kids Yoga and Street Yoga.
In 2012 she began her own yoga company called, Simply Yoga, LLC. Through her business, Lori taught an after-school kids yoga class at a local school and this past summer was hired by the Northshore YMCA to teach Yoga for Youth classes onsite at the Y and at various other community and school locations.
When not teaching kids yoga, Lori enjoys practicing yoga at various studio locations and can be found hiking, biking and traveling with her husband Mark. It was through his love and support that she is able to follow her passion for teaching yoga to kids of all ages.
