Yoga of the Mind Workshop
"Yoga stills the fluctuations of the mind, so that the Seer can abide in its true nature."
- Yoga Sutras 1.2 & 1.3
The Yoga Sutras, one of the original and ancient classic texts of yoga, explains the psycohological and spiritual aspects of the broad practice of yoga. While most yoga practitioners are familiar with the physical practice of yoga, asana only accounts for a small fraction of the larger yoga discipline.
This workshop will focus on the yogic view of the mind, its tendencies that can cause suffering, and how the practice of yoga can bring the mind back to its natural tranquil state. While the workshop will be mostly discussion, some gentle asana, pranayama, and meditation will be explored as tools to understand the workings of the mind. All of the content of this workshop is derived from the Yoga Sutras, although prior reading of this text by workshop attendees is not necessary.
