Yin Yoga Immersion & Teacher Continuing Education
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: December 4th, 5th, 6th
Investment $275 | Payment options available
There is an art to doing less.
Yin Yoga is a practice of stillness, patience, and observation. While the postures may appear simple, the depth of the practice lies in the details—how we enter a shape, where we find our edge, what we choose to soften, and how we respond to the experience of remaining still.
Unlike more active styles of yoga, Yin asks us to release muscular effort and allow time and gentle, sustained stress to influence the deeper connective tissues. Yet the physical practice is only one layer.
In stillness, we have an opportunity to notice our habits. The impulse to push further, the desire to escape discomfort, the tendency to compare or judge. Rather than immediately responding, we practice observing. We begin to recognize the difference between sensation and reaction, between effort and force, and between allowing and enduring.
This 8-hour immersion explores not only what we do in Yin Yoga, but why and how we do it.
Together, we'll examine the principles that distinguish Yin Yoga from other practices, including functional anatomy, the nature of connective tissue, appropriate stress, individual skeletal variation, and the importance of time, stillness, and rebound.
We'll also explore the philosophical and energetic dimensions of Yin, including the relationship between Yin and Yang, meridian theory, and how the practice invites a different relationship with ourselves.
Our Weekend Together
Friday, December 4 | 5:30–8:30 PM
The Foundations of Yin Yoga
An introduction to the principles, philosophy, and techniques that define Yin Yoga. We'll explore what makes a posture Yin, the intention behind the practice, and how subtle adjustments can completely change the experience.
Saturday, December 5 | 10:30 AM–12:30 PM
Yin Yoga Intensive Practice
A two-hour guided practice dedicated to experiencing the principles of Yin firsthand. Through longer-held postures, stillness, and intentional rebounds, we'll explore the subtleties that can easily be missed when we are focused on doing more.
Sunday, December 6 | 12–3 PM
The Heart of Yin Yoga
An opportunity to reflect on the practice and deepen our understanding of the philosophy and techniques behind it. We'll explore the relationship between physical sensation, mental patterns, and the energetic body, and how the lessons of Yin extend beyond the mat.
Continuing Education for Yoga Teachers
Sunday, December 6 | 3:30–5:30 PM
Teachers seeking continuing education will remain for an additional two-hour practicum, with opportunities to guide a Yin sequence or selected postures depending on group size.
We'll explore how to communicate the subtleties of the practice through thoughtful cueing, functional approaches to postures, intentional sequencing, and the skillful use of silence.
Completion of the immersion, teaching practicum, and an online knowledge assessment will fulfill the requirements for a 10-hour Continuing Education Certificate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a yoga teacher?
Not at all! This immersion is open to anyone curious about Yin Yoga, whether you're new to the practice, have been practicing for years, or are a yoga teacher looking to deepen your understanding.
Do I need experience with Yin Yoga?
No previous Yin Yoga experience is required. We'll begin with the foundations of the practice and build on that understanding throughout the weekend.
What should I expect from the two-hour intensive practice?
Saturday is dedicated entirely to experiencing Yin Yoga. We'll explore longer-held postures, the subtleties of finding an appropriate edge, and the importance of stillness and rebound. Props and variations will allow you to explore the practice in a way that works with your individual body.
What's the difference between the immersion and continuing education?
The 8-hour immersion is open to everyone and focuses on personal practice, philosophy, and understanding the techniques of Yin Yoga.
Yoga teachers pursuing continuing education will participate in an additional two-hour teaching practicum on Sunday and complete an online assessment to receive a 10-hour certificate.
What should I bring?
Bring your yoga mat, comfortable layers, something to take notes with, and an open mind. Studio props will be available for use throughout the weekend.
Are payment plans available?
